My 49 wow moments
Here follows a list on places or moments that in one way or another have made me feel something extra. A wow!
The wow moments come in no particular order because I just can’t rank them. Some of the wows are of course a bit weaker and others echoes loudly, but they are all as valuable to me and they will have a place in both my memory and my heart forever.
Not to make the list too long I stopped at 49. Instead I’ll make more lists, because the wow moments just keep coming.
Places and moments that have made me go wow:
1. To watch Machu Picchu slowly reveal itself out of the mist, after a four day long hike, Peru.
2. To stand in the middle of Tokyo on Shibuya square, Japan.
3. To watch the sun rise over Angkor Wat an early morning in Cambodia.
4. To walk ten kilometres on the Great Wall of China.
5. To dive with great white sharks only a few metres away from me, Thailand.
6. To see the Pyramids of Giza in Cairo’s quivering heat, Egypt.
7. To watch a big male lion gobbling down his prey right next to the car, Masaii Mara, Kenya.
8. To gaze out on a shiny Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmar (Burma).
9. To go up to the Golden rock, Kyaiktiyo Pago, Myanmar.
10. To watch and participate (read party as a maniac) in the carneval in Rio, Brazil.
11. To sail on the Nile in a Felucca, Egypt.
12. To wander around in the Valley of the Kings, Egypt.
13. To see the women in their colourful Saris by the Ganges River in Varanasi, India.
14. To get lost in the small narrow alleys in Africas largest outdoor market, Merkato, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
15. San Blas Islands, Panama.
16. To stay in a tree house, Costa Rica
17. The Reed festival in Swaziland. And yes, I did see the King, he was dressed in just a loincloth.
18. To walk around the stunning Iguazu Falls among rainbows and butterflies, Brazil and Argentina.
19. To enjoy the breathtaking landscape in Malargue, Argentina.
20. To celebrate the Chinese New Year in Shanghai, China.
21. To climb Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia
22. White river rafting in Argentina.
23. Jungle adventures in the North of Thailand.
24. To devoutly admire Taj Mahal, Agra, India.
25. To sit with a coctail in a sky bar on the 54:th floor while watching the miniature city below me, Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam.
26. To see the Komodo dragons on Komodo Island, Indonesia.
27. Camel safari in the Thar desert, India.
28. To watch a football game in Rio, Flamengo against Botafogo in Maracana Stadium, Brazil.
29. To hold a koala bear in my arms, Brisbane, Australia.
30. To become a certified scuba diver in Moçambique.
31. To travel on the Trans-Siberian Railway from Moscow to Beijing.
32. To stay in a ger on the Mongolian steppe.
33. To crawl in one of the Chi Chi tunnels in Vietnam.
34. To sit on a small green plastic chair in the streets of Hanoi drinking beer, Vietnam.
35. To eat a romantic dinner on a paradise beach (no other people) on an island outside El Nido, Palawan, Philippines.
36. Fullmoon party on Koh Phangan, Thailand.
37. Biking around Bagan, among all the temples, while the sun slowly rises, Myanmar.
38. To walk around in the Forbidden City, Beijing, China.
39. To see the 71 meter high giant Buddha in Leshan, China.
40. To explore the magnificent Reed Flute Cave in Guilin, China.
41. Victoria Peak, Hongkong.
42. Tubing in Laos.
43. To become a Divemaster on a Caribbean island outside Honduras.
44. To stand at the top of the Eiffel Tower, France.
45. The Ice Festival in Harbin, China.
46. Gili Ilands, Indonesia.
47. Saltflats, Bolivia.
48. To visit Jodhpur, the Blue City, India.
49. Barbecue in Halmstad at Mattias place. 🙂
